Seattle-King County Disaster Team and Donations
What is the Seattle-King County Disaster Team (SKCDT)?
The Seattle-King County Disaster Team is a volunteer, 501(c)(3), tax-deductable organization dedicated to providing medical services where it is needed most.
Who have been the recipients of volunteer medical services ?
The SKCDT has provided volunteer education and medical services to a variety of organizations and others in need. This has included the following:
Haiti medical assistance. Members of the team have provided 12 years of medical care and food distribution to those most needy in Haiti. The care is provided in a make-shift clinic with no running water or electricity in the town of Leon. The team will see upwards of 200 patients per day that travel miles by foot to reach the clinic. A variety of medical specialists including nurses, lab technicians, physicians, physician assistants, pharmacists and others to care for these individuals and help to identify those most in need.
Organizations. There are several non-profit organizations that SKCDT has partnered with to provide past and ongoing medical services for events. In many cases, the volunteers will set-up a first-aid station that is ready to treat any injuries or illness that may occur in participants at the events. A few of the past partners have included the Special Olympics and the All Nations Cup.
First-aid education. In addition to training members of the team in first-aid, our volunteers provide outreach first-aid education to organizations.

What is happening now?
SKCDT is currently accepting donations for the upcoming Haiti medical assistance trips in April and June. Due to the recent devastating earthquake, the needs for this trip will be greater than years past. Every year the medication and food is donated by a church in Maryland. However, these supplies will not meet the demand that is anticipated. For all donations made to SKCDT between now and the trip, 100% will be used to purchase local beans and rice from Haitian farmers and other supplies to distribute in the clinic and the surrounding area. Basil & Chives is hosting a lunch and auction gala on March 14th at 1pm with all ticket and auction sales going to SKCDT for Haiti. Tickets are $45 or for VIP $100. Sponsorship can be purchased with a donation of $500. For tickets please call (360) 794-4000 or go to brown paper tickets.
